Sports Massage

Soft Tissue Mobilisation

Sports massage is a deep form of soft tissue mobilisation. Despite its name, you don't need to be a sportsperson to have a sports massage - it can be an effective treatment for a range of injuries or issues.

Sports massage involves a wide range of techniques and is used for general relaxation of the muscular skeletal system.

Sports massage has many benefits, including:

  • Improved relaxation

  • Pain reduction

  • Soft tissue mobilisation

  • Reduced muscle tension

  • Improved range of movement

  • Breakdown of adhesions and reduction of scar tissue

  • Increased blood circulation, leading to better recovery

  • Mitochondrial development

Sports massage can be used to help manage your body during training, or as preparation and recovery from an event or competition.

L Wright's Story

Overloading or increased repetition of specific movements can result in an overuse injury such as lateral epicondylitis – also known as tennis elbow. This is where the tendons can become

swollen, or small tears can appear, and cause a constant ache, with or without sharp pains, into the outside of your elbow.

Through deep tissue massage, frictions over the tendons and

trigger point therapy, with the addition of a stretch and strengthening programme to correctly increase the load through the tendon, we were able to eliminate the symptoms and prevent re-occurrence.

Review

"After a change in job, I noticed some discomfort starting in my elbow but just left it, thinking it would go over time. However, three months later it was still there and slowly getting worse.

I saw Beth and she said I was struggling with tennis elbow.

I had six appointments with Beth where she treated my elbow and gave me some homework to do, and now I am completely pain free! Would 110% recommend!"
